The Genesis project in Rhondda Cynon Taf began operating as part of the Genesis Wales Project on 1st May 2005.

It aims to reduce the barriers faced by parents or carers who wish to enter training or employment, and provide support and guidance to help individuals identify their hopes and aspirations for the future.

Elements of the project include: Genesis RCT ADULT ADVISER

The Adult Adviser works with individuals on a one-to-one or group basis to help them build confidence and self esteem, and provide support as they take their first steps back into education, training or employment.

Any professional can make referrals to the Adult Adviser.

The Genesis Project may be able to provide childcare funding to enable individuals undertake training or enter employment. This is dependent on the individual’s circumstances, and subject to no other source of funding being available.

The Mobile Childcare Team can be booked to run community-based crèches to allow parents or carers to undertake informal learning opportunities. The crèches can be provided for up to two hours, for children under eight years of age.

The charge for a crèche is £12 per member of staff per hour. A minimum of two staff will be required for any crèche. The actual number required will depend on the number and ages of children who will attend.

COMMUNITY DAY NURSERIES & OUT-OF-SCHOOL PROVISION

The Genesis Project operates six community day nurseries and one out-of-school provision in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
